This cleaver was hammer forged out of an old truck overload leaf spring. Starting out at 2 inches wide and a half inch thick it was slowly worked out into the the shape you see here.
With a thick 3/8" spine and convex grind the blade is incredibly strong. It was finish ground to a thin edge that is shaving sharp. The tang of the knife is tapered down nice in the handle to reduce weight and balance the weight to front for chopping. Smooth and comfortable curly maple scales and black g10 liners lie over the tang area.
