These start out as government issue machetes before we inspect them and then heavily modify them to fix their shortcomings and to make them more useful tool. These machetes make great pack knives, additions to survival kits or bug out bags, added to vehicles for emergencies, or just for general use around camp or out in the bush!
The blades are 1/8" thick 1095 high carbon steel and made in the USA. We modify the tip of the machete by profiling it down to a sharpened spear point for digging and defensive use. The bevels are reground with a convex grind to get both a stronger and sharper edge. The cutting edge is brought all the way down to the handle scales. The spine on this model has a factory saw back that has been reground for a better cut.
The handle area is cut and reprofiled for comfort and a larger gripping area. Micarta scales are contoured and media blasted rough for plenty of grip. They are attached with Corby bolts and 2 ton epoxy for a lifetime fit. The machete includes a pancake style kydex sheath made of HD .093 material. It is a major upgrade over the flimsy GI sheaths and allows a multiple carry configurations with aftermarket clips.
The blades are phosphate coated from the factory but all of them have slight irregularities or minor scuffs in the finish from shipping/transport.
